Reiki Promotes Your Body’s Natural Healing Ability

Uncategorized

In the spirit of providing the Be Well Beautiful Woman community with accessible wellness services, I became a Reiki Master & Teacher this past weekend. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.

Reiki has been around for thousands of years. Its current form was first developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist called Mikao Usui, who reportedly taught 2,000 people the Reiki method during his lifetime (which was impressive considering he passed away four years later). The practice spread to the U.S. through Hawaii in the 1940s, and then to Europe in the 1980s. Today, Reiki education is offered in more than 800 American hospitals as a means to accelerate the healing process and to alleviate pain.

The Reiki healing technique is based on the principle that the practitioner can channel energy into their clients by means of touch (or simply thoughts which I’ll discuss more later), to activate the natural healing processes of an individual’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Reiki practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others. It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Improving the flow of energy around the body, say practitioners, can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness. Although Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing.

The most recent data analyzed (during 2008-9) shows strong evidence that Reiki is indeed responsible for a positive biological response in both humans and animals. The strongest evidence (rated “excellent” in the Process) was reported in the most carefully controlled of all experiments; non other than laboratory rats. In both 2006 and 2008 stressed-out lab rats received Reiki treatments and they all showed significantly reduced stress, anxiety and depression responses. “Sham” or bogus Reiki treatments were given to the placebo group and they showed no reduction in stress, anxiety or depression. Testing in humans performed between 1993 and 2006 showed ratings from Satisfactory to Excellent, all suggesting that the benefit of Reiki treatments were positive in controlling pain levels in humans. There were some “confounding variables”, which is typical in hospital (as opposed to laboratory) studies; however, the placebo Reiki treatments in this experiment were by contrast ineffective in controlling pain. At the second degree and Master’s level, Reiki can be done in a virtual format. Since energy is infinite you don’t even need to see that person on screen. You can picture them and conduct Reiki the same way you would as if you were working on them in person. I know this is difficult for many individuals to conceptualize but as someone who has received virtual Reiki treatments from a Reiki Master and now provided some myself through my training I know first hand how powerful this experience can be.

If you want to experience Reiki for yourself, we are gifting our community with complimentary virtual Reiki sessions during the month of August. All you have to do is click here to schedule and discover this sacred wellness practice by August 31!

And make sure you hold your FREE spot for Show Me the Money series which will help you make more coin, protect your coin, and enhance your coin. It’s all coming October 19-28 and you most certainly won’t want to miss it. Registration opening soon!
